Celesse Jetter's eyes scanned the crowd, looking for a way out. To the left was a small door that probably led to an alley. Possibility. To her right was the main exit, where many Fairies were crowded around. Unlikely. She eyed the shackles that bound her hands and feet, trying to work out a way to ditch them. Nothing came to mind. But, there had to be a way to escape...the thought of being forever enslaved by the Fae ripped through her mind, almost destroying her. She hated them. She could not stand them. How would she survive serving them?

She sighed and relaxed her body, still looking around. She had to be calm. Being calm was the only way she could possibly get through this, without breaking down. The guards in blue and black armor leading her and the many other people with her seemed intent upon their goal of making sure no one escaped, which greatly interfered with her plans...or, at least, the seeds of plans that might have possibly been forming. Maybe. Any hope she was fostering flickered, doubt taking it's place. Shaking her long brown hair out of her vision, she continued looking around the room, desperation rising steadily throughout her. Was it possible to be hopeful, doubtful, and desperate all at the same time?

She stood on a stage in the candy-stripe pajamas she was Taken in, almost all eyes on her. Fear and loneliness filled her--fear for what would happen next, and loneliness from the realization she would never Alisier--her brother--or her loving parents ever again. Her friends, her enemies, her acquaintances...none of them would ever see her again. Because she would be HERE, mopping up after after despicable Fairies and tending to their every whim. Fantastic. God, her hatred of them ran so deep...

The auctioneer entered at this point, interrupting her wallowing. He was very large--he probably had to shop at the Big and Tall store. Though, Celesse doubted his attire would ever be found at that specific establishment. He wore bright yellow, silky parachute pants and a loosey-goosey black peasant top. He walked to the front of the stage, his voice echoing unpleasantly against the stone walls. Of course, Celesse couldn't understand a single word he said. The crowd cheered, and one guard roughly shoved her from behind, making her trip as she was exposed to the audience. From this vantage point, she could make out the differences between the disdainful Fairies. They had weird hair.

As she was surveying the audience, a platform in the rear of the building caught her attention. There resided a couple of people--a man and a woman. She couldn't make out any features on either of them, and she was curious as to why they caught her attention specifically. The thought fluttered from her mind, however, when the auctioneer started yelling again. He gestured to Celesse, and applause rung throughout the room. He held up one finger, and about half the room rose their hands. He held up two, and that count dropped by half. He raised three, and there were only two hands up--the girl in the back and an odd looking man up front. She didn't like the look of either of them.

After he raised a fourth finger, the man up front sighed and dropped his hand. Obvious disappointment adorned his face, distorting it into something gruesome.  Celesse automatically looked to the girl in the back, who had a sly smile on her face...a smile Celesse was sure she didn't like. She was looking into the face of her new owner.

Luminyx was ready to leave the stifling, crowded building the moment she entered and took her rightful place on the platform at the rear wall. The platform was raised so that she had a good view of the stage and its occupants despite her distance from it, but at the moment there was nothing to see. Drab gray concrete walls, a stage devoid of the lowly creature(s) she was seeking, and no Prince Dellywynne to amuse her and make her heart beat a little faster. The Princess swept a half lidded, moss green gaze over the floor’s occupants, studying the pleasing, clashing array of colors that put most rainbows to shame.

Humans were so dull, lifeless, and primitive. How could these beings with their flawed skin and dull eyes be equal to fairies? The answer was so simple… they couldn’t.

Luminyx smoothed the soft golden material of her dress with one pale gold hand, then returned her hands to their folded position in front of her abdomen. She wanted to pat her hair as well, but Princesses didn’t fidget; nor were they concerned that they were anything less the immaculate in appearance. Her midnight blue hair was gathered up and piled on her head in a style strongly resembling drooping leaves; the spun gold streaks in her hair were brought out by the bright material of her dress. She’d outlined her eyes in a vibrant red to match her lips and bring out her green eyes to their full effect.

She was certain that no other fairy there was nearly as striking, with the exception of Prince Dellywynne, who (speak of the devil), was just entering the building at that moment and strode over to take his place beside her on the platform. She studied him subtly beneath half closed eyes in the short amount of time it took him to reach her, then reluctantly turned her gaze to the stage.

“Greetings, Prince Dellywynne,” she said formally, still staring at the stage, but a second later she glanced askance at him with her lips quirked into a sly, impish half-smile. Her moss green eyes held a gleam of mischief.

“Are you finally going to tell me why you’ve decided to come? I’ve come for a servant, but I’m fairly certain you still have yours.” She’d been needling him gently about his reasons for coming since several days before the event, but he’d refused to tell her, arousing her curiosity to greater heights each time he refused.

Her servant, a very strong-minded, rebellious woman, had threatened to tell the Prince and King a few things she’d rather they never found out about. Despite the fact that the King would never believe a servant over his own Daughter, Luminyx still searched for the Fairy of the most ill repute and promptly sold her to him for a ridiculously cheap price, outright admitting that the woman was mentally unstable, but with stern discipline, was still capable of labor.

While she was needling the Prince about his reasons, the auctioneer had been herding humans onto the stage. Luminyx was paying no attention, certain that it would be a long while yet before she found the servant who fitted her needs. But the prince, who had been replying to her, abruptly ceased everything he was doing and stared at the stage in such a manner that Luminyx herself turned to see what caught his attention.

Naturally, she was not pleased with what she saw. The girl being shoved unceremoniously to the front of the stage had dull brown hair and atrociously striped pajamas, although they were passably bright. Despite this, she was attractive enough to catch the Prince’s attention and keep it.

She felt a pang of disappointment, then a small flare of anger. Her lips dropped into the slightest frown, her expression becoming stony and more than a little disdainful as she studied the girl and waited for the bidding to begin. The auctioneer held up one finger and Luminyx’s gaze skirted to the Prince, who had raised his hand. She raised hers also, no doubt eliciting some surprise from Dellywyne.

There was no way she was going to let this girl become his servant. Her feminine instincts insisted to her that she was being threatened and they were almost always right. The number of bidders quickly began to drop as the man held up more fingers and even as he held up a third finger, nearly equal to her current allowance, she kept her hand up. She inwardly cringed as he held up a fourth finger, but her heart lifted as the Prince dropped his hand with obvious disappointment.

At the same time, she felt bad for denying him. But this was for his own good. In time, he would come to see that there was only one woman for him, the one who had stuck by him since the day she had been born, and until that time, Lumi was going to do everything in her power to crush her competition.

“Perhaps next time, Brother,” She said gently, teasingly. She knew better than to throw it in his face or mock him over his loss. Besides, she had lost almost her entire allowance and wouldn’t be able to get that beautiful white mare she’d wanted so badly.

As she turned her gaze back to the stage and the girl on it, Luminyx couldn’t stop a smile of triumph from spreading over her face, wondering what she was going to do with the servant girl now. She could sell her to someone, but… what if she somehow came in contact with the Prince again? No, it was best to keep her where she could keep an eye on her. Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. A very valuable human saying that had to have originated from fairies.

Dark, impenetrable orbs flashed over the collection of slaves and fae, her upper lip curling slightly. She did not much like the processes of slaving or owning a slave, despite having one such thing attached to her by way of a rope around her waist and the thing’s as well. It was not like she had bought the girl for the sole intent of putting her to work at picking her clothing out, something that she didn’t much bother with. No, she had taken the girl as a debt. Some stupid male owed hers something and didn’t have anything to pay with, so she took his slave.

The slave didn’t appear to be much, despite being dark skinned. Kiriel presumed it was from living in the desert, but you never knew with humans. Those dark orbs flickered a crossed the collective masses once more, looking for a certain person, or people if you asked. There. The girl spotted them and a large hand went to the tendrils of sliver that had escaped the dreadlocks that made up most of her hair. She tucked the lone strands behind an ear heavily adorned with earrings and little bits of fluff that was connected to the stone and metal.

“Come along,” she said to the child slave, long legs starting to eat up the ground between her and her cousins on the other side of the room. The rope connecting the two would grow taunt, pulling the young girl forward if she did not move fast enough, although the rope would allow Kiriel to get a pace or two ahead of the child. Kiriel did not like being followed, but she knew it would do no good to hold the child’s hand. If she had been cursed to be a slave she would attempt to kill the one who owned her, and patronizing the poor soul would not do anything but deepen the resentment.

Not that Kiriel really cared. As Kiriel reached the platform that the Prince and (sadly) the Princess rested on, she inclined her head. “Flesh of mine, I greet you. Prince and Princess,” the female nodded her head once more, before drappin’ herself upon the stairs that lead up to their throne’s, a quick smile curling up the edges of her face and showing off those straight, white teeth. “Do you like my new addition, Prince?” Those silver brows had quirked, and her back was too him.

The new addition she was speaking of was the tattoo that spanned the cocoa butter flesh of her back. It was a sword, a narrow blade that tapered to a point at the small of the fae’s back. Done in silver and blue, it was a piece of art –if Kiriel could say so, and she did. The woman swung around once more, flashing the claw marks that slashed a crossed her shoulders, inhuman eyes dancing without light. “Miss me?”   She questioned, husky voice sliding through the air. Oh, it was perfect. She hoped that the Prince would focus on her now that he had lost his query.

Those cursed eyes swung over to the Princess, her head jerking in the direction of the stage, smooth voice slipping from her lips, eyes closing slightly in mockery. “Shouldn’t you go get your prize?”

Intelligent lavender eyes peered around the area, trying to take in everything at once. She was able to ignore for the moment, the rope that tied her tiny frame to her current Master, but that disappeared the instant Kiriel moved ever so slightly.  Resisting the urge to untie the rope around her own waist, the small child instant focused on the human up on a stage.  She was never placed upon a stage to be sold because when the Faeries took over the orphanage, they just forced her into slavery then. Her first owner was a male that forced her to do harsh labor, something no child should ever do. But, it was done and she learned to do it without complaining because anytime she did, a whip found its way to her soft flesh.  At least Kiriel didn’t beat her and the only work that was to be done was picking out clothes, which was not difficult at all!

Poor girl… I wonder what it’d be like to be auctioned off like this. Damn Faeries are going to pay for enslaving us!

Playing a little with the rope before tugging on her purple hair, Lily watched the sale silently.  When it was over, Kiriel started forward and Lily quickly bounded forward, making sure the rope was never pulled taunt.  Weaving in and out of the crowd, she once again thought about attempting to escape, but realized she probably wouldn’t get very far.  It wasn’t long before the two climbed up a few steps and Yuy once again took in whatever was being said, because it although it didn’t matter to her at the moment, it might later on.

“Stupid Faeries.”

The two words were no more than a whisper and she had wandered off as far as the rope would let her, so Lily didn’t know if anyone heard her or not. Part of her didn’t care if they did while the other part didn’t really want to be punished.  Sitting down ‘criss-cross applesauce’, she made sure to appear to be paying attention elsewhere, but was internally wondering why Kiriel was flirting with the Prince and why she appeared to be ridiculing the Princess. Wouldn’t she be chastised for that or were Faeries allowed to scoff at one another? The more she tried to understand, the more difficult it seemed to be.

They though chaining her hands and feet would stop her, but it wouldn't. The girl was practically dragged out on stage on her back as she clawed at the chains surrounding her arms and legs. She was going to prove to these faes that she wasn't going down without a fight, without a big fight. This was the third time she'd been back at the auction house. Her previous owner had brought her back screaming and shouting and demanding a refund - something which he never got, but he still didn't take her back, and that only made Hailey smile more in satisfaction.

Once out on stage, in a blue pair of shorts and a baby pink tshirt, she stared out at the crowd, watching her enemies and the humans that some of them accompanied. She was already trying to plan her next escape from the faes, with the other girls. She'd long stopped ignoring the auctioneer, who was desperately trying to give the young girl some good qualities. They knew that it was getting lower and lower in chance that someone would buy such a girl and rather just have a nice quiet one. But like her last owner, there was a few that were looking forward to breaking such a girl and showing how powerful of a fae they were to society. The girl was like a challenge to them. A challenge to show their power in breaking her. Unfortunately no one had done such a thing successfully yet, no matter how many whippings, beatings or whatever she was given, it hadn't worked. And once the fae's realised this they brought her back demanding their money back.

The auctioneer lost track of his words for a moment as the girl stopped struggling and fighting to watch the crowd. He wondered if she was up to something for a second, but when he was sure she couldn't escape the chains he got back to the crowd. "She just needs someone to show her the way of things out here. The others were weak, but surely there is a fae out here powerful enough to teach this girl her place in our society." He spoke.

"I'm not learning anything!" Hailey spat out starting to fight the chains all over again despite it been a battle that was lost from the start. Her human hands had no power in them to break chains; she knew that and most likely everyone else knew that.

Whispers. Some say they could travel faster then the wind, others say it is just mindless gossip. Yet their kind seemed to glow in it, craved it even more then the humans did. Dellywynne, the Crowned Prince, had arrived unexpectedly. Of course, mostly everyone was aware of his coming, maybe even before he was, for they say the Prince was smitten. With who? They did not know. But you could bet that nickel in your pocket that they were dying to know.

Dellywynne was a rather interesting character, at least the women thought so. Even the humans were fascinated by him for they claimed he looked like a blessed angel from above. Hair as bright as the stars, eyes bluer then the sky and a lingering smell of Lilacs surrounded him. Women clamored to him every chance they got, which was surprisingly often. Yet right now that did not matter.

With graceful steps the man entered the room and a silence took over as everyone watched him. They all knew without hesitation that he would stay near his sister, who was just as gorgeous as he, Luminyx. The dream couple that everyone went on about daily. They all agree'd that it had been predestined for the two to be soul mates yet Dellywynne paid it no mind. With his impish grin, Dellywynne strode right up to his sister and bowed before her as a release of breath went through the room causing the chatter to resume as normal, “Greetings, Prince Dellywynne,” she said before returning the same secret smile, a smile they had shared since they were children.

His response was simple, he laughed a musical laugh. Clenching his stomach as a tear left his right eye. After a moment, the Prince composed himself and smiled at his beautiful sibling. "Come, sister, why so formal?" He took her all in, from her lovely green eyes to the way she sat, regal-like, in her golden dressed that made her hair pop out more. A Princess she was, and her aura screamed it to the world. Blue eyes filled with joy, Dellywynne took his seat next to her and slouched into it with his face falling into his hand. As quickly as the joy came it left, a mild side effect of being a Fairy. Emotions changed quickly and as of late, Dellywynne had become increasingly silent and withdrawn though most people never seemed to notice. It was rare that he was his true form in public yet today had been tiring for him. A moment of silence passed before his sister spoke again, “Are you finally going to tell me why you’ve decided to come? I’ve come for a servant, but I’m fairly certain you still have yours.”

A small grin returned to his handsome face, "You never give up, do you dear Lumi?" Lumi was his pet name for her and he preferred calling her that whether it be a occasion formal or informal. His reason? Eh how could he possibly explain his thoughts without being laughed at? "What if I just wanted to spend some time with my dear sister..." His words trialed off as his eyes caught sight of "her." The human girl.

Intensity surged through his very being as he ate her up, from luxurious brown hair to the way her bright pajamas fit her form but really, he was looking into her eyes. They seemed scared, and lonely yet frighteningly beautiful and... pure. How different, how... intriguing she was to him. Again she struck him with her innocence, her courage. He had been waiting for this day, for them to meet again. With his thoughts gone awry, Dellywynne failed to realize his sister was brooding next to him, he sat up straighter and waited for the bidding to begin. The selling had begun.

On impulse, Dellywynne kept his hand raised. He failed to realize the growing muttering until it was just him... and Lumi. His eyes widened in shock as his sister had a look of determination about her but he felt it best to say nothing and his imp smile returned as it became neck in neck. All eyes were on the competing duo, wondering who would win this... prize.

With a sigh of resignation, the Prince dropped his hand and fell back into his previous relaxed, bored posture. If he continued, not only would it be rude to his sister and their people but it would arose suspicion. “Perhaps next time, Brother,” She teased.

Shaking his head, Dellywynne laughed a heartfelt one, "Now you know as well as I that you will always win my dove." After a moment, his eyes fell again on the girl before a voice called out to them.  “Flesh of mine, I greet you. Prince and Princess.”

"Ah! Cousin, good to see you again." Dellywynne waved to Kiriel, who despite her appearance was a Princess of the Desert Kingdom. “Do you like my new addition, Prince?”  Dellywynne watched as she turned to show off her new ink art, it was quite a sight. The sword suited her personality well, a sharp edge you would not want to be at the end of. "It's marvelous! Maybe one day you  can show me the ways of tattooing?" A harmless flirt between a man and a woman.

 “Miss me?” Daringly she asked.

"With each passing sun and rising moon." Laughing, Dellywynne winked at the girl playfully. "But tell me, how is your dear mother?"  His eyes left the women and fell back on the stage. The young girl was gone and they were bringing someone else out, a wild one.

"Shouldn’t you go get your prize?”

“Shall I fetch the other girl, ma’am?”

A new girl appeared on stage, a wild one at that. Kicking and screaming like an untamable stallion. People throughout the room called out obscenities at this "untrainable" slave and requested real, obedient slaves. But after a while, she just... stopped. Her demeanor was almost threatening and Dellywynne could not help but admire this about her. Her bravery to face a different species head on or was it just foolishness?

The auctioneer was trying desperately to rid himself of her, but she stood there with a smug look. He even resorted to begging, "She just needs someone to show her the way of things out here. The others were weak, but surely there is a Fae out here powerful enough to teach this girl her place in our society." It was rather pathetic really and most Fae's just looked away. The girl called out, "I'm not learning anything!" and continued with her desperate fight against the chains. It was an amusing sight, so amusing that Dellywynne was laughing and tears of joy fell from his eyes again. Standing up, he spoke loudly as the room quieted down, "I will take her from your hands. But whether I'm strong enough to show her the way, I know not. I'm sure she can claw me to death before I can give a command."

A bout of laughter erupted from the crowd as a few maidens cried out their love for the Prince. Wiping sweat from his brow, the auctioneer smiled and shouted, "And so she goes to the Prince Dellywynne! May the Blessed Angels keep watch over him and help him guide this poor soul."

More laughter ensued as the Prince returned his attention to his company, "Shall we be going?"

Now you know as well as I that you will always win my dove.

Lumi felt a surge of joy as she recalled Dellywynne’s words, her smile broadening and becoming truly warm. No wonder everyone who met him fell for him. The thought sent a surge of jealousy and anxiety through Luminyx, but she ruthlessly stomped them down and instead chose to bask in the Prince’s presence.

His eyes were so rich and bright, his expression so warm and friendly.

Still.

The thought of other people looking at him or giving him secretive smiles wiped the smile from her features faster than a slap to the face. Thoughts like these always set her emotions into a powerful whirl; love, jealousy, anger, happiness, hate, despondency, a fierce determination to have him to herself or else… sometimes the last thought had her wondering just what she was willing to do to keep him to herself.

Some small part of her feared the thought and constantly pushed it away.

Quote
Flesh of mine, I greet you. Prince and Princess.”

Anger, resentment, hate; a strong desire to scream at the woman and violent actions flashed through her mind. She’d become a master of concealing her emotions, otherwise there may have been many awkward moments in her life. Luminyx allowed a slow, sweet smile to cross her face as she nodded regally to Kiriel, looking for all the world like she was most pleased to see her.

Despite the fact that she wanted to hurt her.

“My dear cousin Kiriel!” She exclaimed, her smile brightening by several shades. Let her remind the woman that she didn’t have the close relationship with Dellywyne that Lumi had. Princess or not, she was just the cousin. “That tattoo is very beautiful. If I preferred not to mark my flesh, I might get one as well. They look so stunning.”  A second disguised barb that only another woman could comprehend.

No sense in letting the Prince think she was capable of jealousy or any negative emotions. It was best that he thought of her as possessing a heart of gold and a gentle, courteous demeanor.

Luminyx inwardly scowled as Kiriel suggested she go get her prize. The woman was trying to draw her away, but… she had a point. The lovely slave girl with Kiriel offered to go fetch the girl and Luminyx favored her with a smile. If only her new prize would be so obedient. She could only hope.

Luckily, she was saved unknowingly by the Prince. The fact that he offered to take an obviously volatile slave girl off the auctioneer’s hands irked her like nothing else, but if it kept Lumi from having to leave her cousin and her Brother alone, than she couldn’t be ungrateful about it. Perhaps someone was looking down on her and agreeing that their love was fated to be.

Luminyx nodded courteously to Dellywynne and Kiriel and gracefully descended the platform steps to the ground, already taking the initiative and heading towards the side of the building that was the least crowded. As they walked, she listened in on any communication between Dellywynne and Kiriel warily, but offered no opinion of her own. Let them think she was excited to have a new slave.

The crowd automatically parted for the royal party, offering friendly greetings and acknowledgements of their status. Luminyx strolled right up to the auctioneer as he was going back to bring out another girl.

“Dear Sir, it would please us much if you would fetch us our slaves,” She requested courteously, waiting to take her measure of her slave. Hopefully she would be the obedient type.

Once the slave was brought out, she’d maintain her courteous demeanor, if only to impress the Prince.
“Remove the shackles,” She told the auctioneer, then turned to the girl with a gentle smile on her features. “What is your name, dear?” If the girl was observant enough, she would notice the icy gleam in Lumi’s gaze that silently threatened her, should anything go amiss.

A tall male Fairy was the one who led Celesse off her stage, allowing her to take one last glance around the room. As her eyes found the stage yet again, a wild and seemingly rabid girl was being held as she through the fit of the century. Sadness and fear for her clutched at Celesse's heart. She knew that with that kind of demeanor, the girl would never find a decent home to serve. Though, being in a kind home did nothing to lessen the weight of being a slave. You still didn't own yourself.

The male led her around a corner and through an unassuming wooden door, which revealed a small, dimly lit room. The only light available came from the sparse torches that lined the cold stone walls. A chill invaded her spine as she looked upon the female standing in the center of the room with her back facing a mirror on the opposing wall. Celesse stumbled forward only to have the woman take two long strides and shove the clothing heap into her arms, giving Celesse a look of pure disgust, with she returned obligingly. This earned her nothing but a quick smack to the face, bringing bitter tears to Celesse's eyes.

The male stepped forward and unbound her shackles, allowing the woman to completely strip Celesse of her pajamas. A bashful blush bloomed across her chest and face as she looked behind her, meeting the male's disgusting stare. Making sure her back was facing him, Celesse hastily donned the soft, silky blue shirt adorned with a rearing unicorn and black pants, finishing off with matching black slipper-shoes.

She looked into the mirror briefly, taking in her appearance. She saw her dark brown hair, her blue-grey eyes, her curvy figure...but she didn't recognize any of it. Her hair didn't seem to shine as bright, her eyes weren't as animated, and her figure was slumped with resignation.

At least the clothes were comfortable.

A cough behind her took her attention off her reflection and made her turn around, expecting to see the lusty male. Instead, an older male with a kind face beckoned for her to come forward. She didn't trust him. Kind face meant nothing when they were on Fairies--they were all malicious tricksters. He was probably scheming against her as he let out another cough, this one breaking her narrow-eyed stare.

Bracing herself, Celesse followed him through the door and around the same corner she had turned before. She stood in the doorway, idly watching the disgusting Fairies mingle, not even noticing that entourage that included her new owner approaching at a brisk pace. She was taken aback when the woman with bright blue hair asked in a sickly sweet voice, "What is your name, dear."

Celesse looked up to meet her eyes, noticing the malice that resided there. ...What a bitch... was the first thought that wandered through her mind. Her nasty smile raised her hackles, instantly making Celesse want to retort with something just as nasty as this woman in front of her. Instead, she took her time answering, looking behind her and accidentally making eye contact with the male with brilliant silver hair and deep blue eyes. She blushed, both in embarrassment and anger. Embarrassment because she had been caught basically ogling him, and anger because she had let herself be taken on by the Fairy's appearance. She had to make sure she contained herself in their presence.

Refocusing her attention on the blue-haired woman, Celesse cleared her throat and responded, "My name is Celesse Marie Jetter. What about you?"

It looked like no one was going to have her. That was what she wanted. They could only have her for so long and if no one wanted her maybe they would let her go again. The young girl carried a smug look on her face, happy that no one seemed to want her and once again she stopped struggling to hold the smug look, letting everyone know that she was glad. That all stopped though when someone, a male stood up.

"I will take her from your hands. But whether I'm strong enough to show her the way, I know not. I'm sure she can claw me to death before I can give a command." The male spoke.

"And so she goes to the Prince Dellywynne! May the Blessed Angels keep watch over him and help him guide this poor soul."

The girl's face dropped at the announcement. There was no way she was going to be sold and if she was then she'd fight him and everyone else along the way so she was brought back. He wouldn't put up for her for long, she'd make sure of that. Hailey made sure to glare at the male that had so happily purchased her. She'd be doing more than clawing him to death.

Everything that went next was a bit of a blur. They wanted Hailey to change but couldn't risk taking the chains off. She'd run if they did such a stupid thing and so the chains stayed on and she was lined up next to a girl that had been changed into other clothes. They were soon met by the people who had bought them and the woman approached the girl next to her.

“Remove the shackles,” She told the auctioneer, “What is your name, dear?”

"My name is Celesse Marie Jetter. What about you?" The girl replied.

"Are you stupid!? Don't tell them your name! Don't listen to them." Hailey snapped, renewing her struggle with her chains again. How could they do this to humans. They were just like them. They didn't need to be treated like this, it was horrendous.

Kiriel wanted to laugh at Lumi, the little miss princess. She was attempting to insult her tattoo’s, something that no desert fae could ever take as an insult, since the tattoo’s showed that they were warriors, not afraid to be in pain, not afraid to mark up the perfect skin that they had been given. Perfect lips curled up, crinkling her cheek to give the girl a set of dimples that, actually, were results of small, unnoticeable scars on both of her cheeks.

“It is okay,”
she murmured in a sickly sweet voice, batting her lashes as her fingers curled around the hilt of the sword her tattoo mimicked. “ Only warriors can have tattoo’s, and you’re...Just too...Delicate.” It wasn’t an insult, persay. Since most of the fae she ruled over thought that the castle fae were downright pathetic excuses of flesh…But Kiriel meant it to be one.

As the male came forward, bringing with him the two’s newly bought slaves, Kirel couldn’t help but to smile a predators grin at the Prince’s new toy, head cocking to the side as silver locks caressed her dark cheek. “If you can’t handle her, “ she started out playfully. “I would love to take her off your hands. This one, “ she pointed a elegant finger towards her violet haired slave, “Could use someone to...interact with. And she would survive long in my homeland.”

It was a simple reminder that she was different and wouldn’t always be around – hadn’t always been around, unlike Lumi. Of course the Prince was expected to get tired of her. The girl was no warrior, no one the male could relate to. She was soft, a woman. A… Toy, a proper wife, good for bedding, but no fun. Not like Kiriel.

Kiriel could be a lot of fun and this, sitting around and talking about slaves and politely insulting one another because they were enamored with the prince just wouldn’t do. Arching her back, allowing the curved spine to let out several pops before she sat up once more, she laughed and smacked her lips together in a loud yawn. Crude, yes. “Well, I am wishing to go riding, or something other than this…” A small laugh bubbled forth from this plump lips as she turned black orbs on the two. “Would you, “ there was no mistaking who she was really talking to, “like to join me?”

Lily blinked, her eyes shifting immediately to the stage at the sight of another human girl being drug out by the chains that she savagely tore at.  Never before had she seen someone so opposed to being chained at and for a brief moment, it frightened the seven year old. However, there was no one here that would comfort her and Yuy knew better than to hide behind her Mistresses legs. No, that would probably result in a lashing or harsh words.  Instead, she took in a deep breath and calmed herself down.  She felt sorry for the girl, mainly because fighting alone wouldn’t do a damn bit of good. That was the only reason Lily was behaving. She was waiting to gather a group of slaves and take back what was rightfully theirs.

The man auctioning her off seemed desperate and for some reason, Lily couldn’t help but giggle.  The whole scene was so absurd, it was comical. That was until the Prince took it upon himself to purchase the girl.  The blue shorts wearing girl on the stage became surly and it was obvious that the plan, whatever it was, had failed.  Lily felt sorry for the girl and wondered if the Prince would be a kind master or a complete dick.  It wasn’t like it really mattered because no matter how kind the Faeries appeared, they were nothing more than destroyers of lives and slave owners.  Biting down on her bottom lip, the small child seriously thought about untying the rope and slipping off. She could do it now that Kiriel was busy flirting with Dellywyne and irritating Luminyx.

They should have the tables turned on them and see how they like it.

Before she had a chance to do anything, the group decided to go and fetch the two slaves that had just been purchased. Sulking a little, Lily climbed to her feet and followed behind the Faeries.  Peering from behind Kiriel, she took note of the girl that the Princess had purchased, wondering if she would be a good ally.  The girl identified herself as Celesse Marie Jetter and appeared to be polite unlike the other female who called Celesse stupid for identifying herself to the Fae’s before beginning to fight against the shackles once again. Slinking forward, Yuy just glanced up at the mention that she could use a playmate before returning her attention to the two humans.

“I’m Lily Yuy.  I know this situation sucks, but until we become united, humans aren’t ever going to be free. Fighting them individually is just stupid.”

Her voice was low, a whisper meant only for her fellow human beings. Tugging again at the rope, her lavender eyes widened as it came untied, immediately dropping to the ground. Immediately shifting her attention towards her master, the Princess, and Prince, Lily seriously thought about running away.  She was serious about not fighting the Faeries on an individual level, but that didn’t mean they had to stay with them.  Without another thought or word, her tiny legs sprang into motion and she sprinted away from the group.  Zigzagging between the legs of the crowd, she picked her pace up, hoping to make it somewhere safe.

FREE! I’m finally free!

A swift and unexpected hand extended towards Lily to take a firm yet gentle grip upon her arm as she made to flee. Selphina's eyes rested upon her calmly, displaying nothing but concern and sympathy from within the confines of her hood. The woman had arrived in the area mere moments ago, as usual, with perfect timing.

"My dear, I would advise against running. Such things will only lead to punishment and pain. You would not last long on the run before being captured, be it by someone who would seek out your proper owner, or take you for themselves. There are far worse masters than the royal family, truly, as I am sure you know. I doubt you have even any idea how to return to your own world from this realm, hm?"

Selphina's voice seemed to echo in the auction house, sounding far less human than most fae. Of course, any delusion that she was simply a normal fae would be dispelled the moment that Lily glanced around and saw that the rest of the crowd were frozen, in the middle of sentences, laughter - or in the case of the royal party, surprise.

"To ensure your continued existence, I would advise that you simply keep your head down and follow orders. This is a life unfit for any sentient being, but it is the one you must endure for the time being. There are those amongst my people who disagree with the enslavement of your own, though they are few, they exist. There will come a time when you have your chance, but it is not today, child."

Without a further word, Selphina walked forwards, dragging Lily along behind her as she wove her way through the crowd back to the royal party, where she placed Lily back where she had been standing moments before. "You would do well to play the obedient slave now, my dear. It will earn you - how do you humans say it - 'brownie points' with both your mistress and the Prince if you make no attempt to escape despite the loss of the rope. Though do keep an eye on the Princess - she is a rather unpleasant example of my people, even as they go..."

Not waiting for a response from the young girl, nor replying to any questions, Selphina walked away. Once she was out of sight, after a few moments, the crowd once more resumed activity.

From where she rested just outside, Selphina wiped her brow. She was unused to such direct manipulation of time, and needed several moments to regain composure before she was able to continue. Once she had caught her breath, however, she rounded the corner into the auction house for the second time, and approached the royal party. She paid no mind to Lily whatsoever, her attention instead focused on the Prince and Princess.

"Greetings, your majesties." she said, inclining her head to each in turn, "His royal highness sent me to inquire as to what is keeping you? You know how he worries." she continued, making little effort to hide the wry amusement at her final sentence. The king really was not one to worry, more likely was that he wanted to speak with one or the other of them, or had some ulterior motive for keeping them back at the palace.

. Naturally Dellywynne carried off like a true man, completely oblivious to the women around him taking snips at each other. With a wide smile across his face, showing perfect teeth, the young Prince carried on as if all the world around him waited for his approval before continuing on. Of course, this is not the truth for as they walked to collect their due, various Fae greeted the royalty, their eyes and ears aware of the conversations being held. An impish smirk here and curious eyes there, all were aware except for the dear Prince.

“Dear Sir, it would please us much if you would fetch us our slaves,” His sister requested. They saw the man's hem disappear behind the curtain and waited a few moments and as his sister and cousin continued their conversation. Unfortunately for them, Dellywynne was not paying attention to either of them, in face his focus was on the new face before them. The human girl who despite dressed so simply, shone brighter then the women near him. Tilting his head to the side, Dellywynne analyzed the girl from head to toe, she looked quite sad and yet he felt so... drawn to her aura. The voice of his sister broke his concentration as they brought in his new prize to stand next to Celesse. “Remove the shackles.”

“What is your name, dear?” Lumi asked the girl however, she took her time in answering and was that eye contact? An intake of breath caused his heart to skip as he saw the girl's face flush. A smirk crossed his face however he looked away pretending to not have noticed as the girl finally responded, "My name is Celesse Marie Jetter. What about you?"

"Are you stupid!? Don't tell them your name! Don't listen to them." Ah, the beast was awake again. Dellywynne watched Hailey struggle for a moment when Kirel spoke up.“If you can’t handle her, “ What a tease, “I would love to take her off your hands. This one could use someone to...interact with. And she would survive long in my homeland.” With a reference to the young girls, Kirel seemed a bit smug about it. With a bark of laughter, Dellywynne shook his head. "While I would be honored to have you, fair lady, train her, I think she would be better off here where it is closer to home. I like the spirit in her eyes." With a quick glance over, Dellywynne studied Hailey. She would do fine.

With a yawn, Kirel spoke again.“Well, I am wishing to go riding, or something other than this…” A laugh escaped her lips as she directed a question to Dellywynne,“Would you like to join me?”

"Why dear cousin, I would be most ho--" He stopped short at the sight of Selphina, "Forgive me cousin,  but it would seem we have rather pressing business at the moment. Perhaps a rain check?" Even though he was speaking to Kirel, his eyes were on Selphina as the older woman approached them.

"Greetings, your majesties." she said, inclining her head to each in turn, "His royal highness sent me to inquire as to what is keeping you? You know how he worries."

A small bitter chuckle escaped the Prince as he looked from his sister to his cousin, and then to the younger girls. "Selphina, I trust you can take care of these young ladies?" He inclined his head to their human slaves before bowing his head in an apology to Kirel, "Dead cousin, I do implore that you stay a little while longer. There is always room for you in the Palace." With a deep bow to the warrior, he turned to his sister and offered her his hand, "Shall we go, my feather?"

Oh really? I’ll show you delicate…

Refusing to give voice to her vicious thoughts, Luminyx tilted her head, her eyes narrowing into displeased, disdainful feline slits as the corners of her mouth turned down slightly. Her expression was downright icy, not to mention haughty, as she stared at Kiriel for a long moment, debating on returning to the insult.

However, it wouldn’t do to ruin her public image. Certain people already suspected what she was really like; staring mulishly at her cousin as they traded insults like children was not going to alleviate their doubts. The Princess flashed her cousin a dangerous smile and laughed, loudly, to the crowd appearing as if she was enjoying a particularly hilarious joke. “You may be right, dear cousin. Not every fairy is a warrior, but we all have our own unique… talents.”

Luminyx said no more as Kiriel turned her attention to the Prince’s newest slave, who seemed more of a handful than Lumi would have wanted to deal with. It was best to break the spirit of those who didn’t have the intelligence to keep their rebelliousness to themselves, but she would be interested to see how the Prince dealt with the insolent girl.

Moss green eyes slid over to the young slave Lily as the rope slipped off of, curious as to what the slave would do. Naturally, Lumi expected her to run. What self respecting sentient being wouldn’t run upon being offered freedom from lifelong enslavement? But the slave remained in place. Why? For the briefest moment, Lumi felt an odd, unreasonable depression settle on her heart like a heavy stone, threatening to choke the breath out of her.

Almost as if she herself were in an invisible, gilded cage. But that was ridiculous. She wasn’t a slave; she was a Princess. She could have whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted, however she wanted. She had power. These arguments failed to remove the feeling, but a second later it was gone, leaving a lingering unpleasantness that Lumi quietly puzzled over, wondering why the slave's refusal to run had set off such a strange emotion.

Luminyx lifted her eyes to the unmistakable presence of Selphina, the one Fae in existence that actually intimidated the stubborn, strong-willed Princess. Something about her, the way she looked at Lumi as if she knew everything about her, saw right through her façade. This Fae was one Lumi tended to go out of her own way to avoid, something her pride would never let her do around anyone else. She stared at the woman as she spoke quietly to the slave, no doubt explaining the idiocy of her attempts to run.

Her relief as Selphina left was sadly short lived; the woman returned a moment later and made a beeline straight for them. Luminyx took a deep, subtle breath and stiffened her spine, her expression serene and calm.  She turned to look at Dellywynne, realizing that for a few moments she had forgotten of him completely. Cold, icy rage surged through her as she noticed the direction he was looking. It was a brutal fight to keep her expression from contorting with rage, but it was a fight she won.

Forcefully imposing upon their staring contest by taking a step forward, Luminyx nodded to the newly dubbed “Celesse”. “Princess Luminyx, but normally I prefer the title to be left off. It’s a pain to say more than once,” She said with a Cheshire grin. The intentionally, playfully evil look on her face would probably have most wondering why she didn’t have fangs.

If there was one thing she knew how to do, it was win people over, make them doubt any hostility or nastiness they may have witnessed from her. Occasionally she slipped, but she was always careful to smooth things over. She glanced briefly at Kiriel, painfully resisting the urge to flash her a triumphant smile, and then turned to Selphina with a gracious smile as the fae woman approached them and greeted them.

“Sometimes we get so involved in our activities that we forget our Father’s paternal worries,” Lumi replied to Selphina’s inquiry, nodding to the woman and to her cousin politely before taking her Brother’s offered hand with a warm smile. “Of course we shall. We’d better hasten to reassure him before he sends out every fairy in the kingdom to search for us,” She chuckled richly as they hurried away.

A gasp made its way from Celesse's throat as the rope dropped from the small slave standing behind the tattoo-y woman. Would she run? Of course that was a horrible idea--the child would either be caught again by the family or someone else, or she would die on the streets. How many times has that happened? Celesse wondered as she waited for the kid to run. Oddly...she stayed put. She was upset, obviously, but she had the brains to keep right were she was, not drawing attention to herself. It didn't even seem that she noticed the chains were gone...But maybe she was just tired of running.

Ms. Blue Hair's step forward drew Celesse's eyes towards her. Oh, was she finally going to get a response? How gracious of her. But nstead of the icy, superior voice Celesse had been expecting, a smile stretched across her face, lightening her features and actually making them pleasant. “Princess Luminyx, but normally I prefer the title to be left off. It’s a pain to say more than once.”

Celesse raised an eyebrow at her new "owner", Luminyx, who appeared to be bi-polar. How else could you explain the once icy-stare turning into a good-hearted chuckle? Unless she was just trying to be confusing, in which case it was definitely working. Or maybe this was just how Fairies acted? Were they always this wishy-washy with their emotions? Maybe the only difference--except the eyes, of course--between humans and Fairies was the fact that all Fairies suffered from chronic bi-polarism. That kind of made sense.

A new figure breaking through the crowd stole Celesse's attention away from mental diseases. This female carried an air of command that made even Luminyx noticeably shrink away--something Celesse assumed didn't occur often. "His royal highness sent me to inquire as to what is keeping you? You know how he worries," she said behind her mysterious (and rather creepy) hood. Celesse turned her head curiously in the direction of a scoff that came from Dellywynne. He sounded a bit like a disgruntled, emo teenager.

"Selphina, I trust you can take care of these young ladies?"

Celesse couldn't help the incredulous expression that popped up on her face as she heard this. She was getting left behind with the creeper in the hood? What the hell was that? Oh God...there was NO WAY that was going down. Interrupting Dellywynne taking the hand of his sister and calling her a FEATHER, she all but belted out, "So what, I'm just getting left behind?! Wonderful." The cockiness of that statement didn't hit her until she heard it herself, but she didn't care. That hooded woman freaked her out...she set out a really weird vibe Celesse wasn't sure she liked.

To think that her slave could have escaped was almost too much for the proud woman to bare. Those fathomless black orbs rested upon the tiny body that stood some distance from her, plump lips almost twithicng down in a frown as she awaited for the girl to run off from her, to be captured and returned – or to be captured and beaten mercilessly. The thought slide Kiriel into a bad mood, and the presence of one of the oldest Fae did little to improve that. Stalking forward a step, the aggressive woman circled strong fingers around Lily’s wrist and tugged her upwards, yanking harshly upon her arm.

“Do not run off, you hear?”

Of course the warning was too late, but it had burst from the woman’s lips as if it had a mind of it’s own. Kiriel may be a Fae, and may not much like the idea of slavery, but if the girl ran off and got hurt…The thought was unthinkable, horrid. Children, to the desert fae, were sacred. People, things, to be cherished and loved, cuddled and protected. This child, though a slave, would get the same treatment. She didn’t have to do hard chores, she was not beaten, and she was allowed to keep a cat, clothing...Whatever she really wanted.

Perhaps Kiriel was being to soft? “Oh, of course..” She mumbled, innocently, to her cousins as they stalked off to leave her alone. Maybe the distracted tone of Kiriel’s voice would keep the Prince’s mind on her but, actually, that was the furthest thing from Kiriel’ mind at the moment.

What was the woman to do with her slave? A quick shake of the warriors head had silver strands brushing her cheeks and she knelt down, to stare eye to eye with the girl. “I know you do not like this,” a deep breath broke Kiriel’s speech, her nose scrunched upwards. How to explain this to a child? “But I do not want you to run. I will give you what freedom I am allowed, but…” Another pause, a shake of Kiriel’s head.

“You can not run off, I an not allow harm to fall upon you.”

There. That’s all she was getting out of Kiriel.

The light of the end of the tunnel so to speak was growing larger until a fate decided to slam the door closed.  Just as Lily was about to dive behind a structure that would hide her appearance until the Faeries left, she felt a hand grabbing a hold of her arm.  Snapping her lavender eyes up at the figure, expecting it to be Kiriel, she was surprised to be staring up at a hooded female.  Biting back a whimper, the seven year old didn’t even bother struggling. Not only would not do her any good, something in the woman’s expression made her feel like everything was going to be alright.  Wondering if the Fae race had the ability to roll minds, Yuy wrinkled her nose while the stranger recommended that she not run off, and even reminded her that the small child truly had no idea how to get back to her own world.

“…I guess…”

Her voice was barely above a whisper, because at that moment, the slave realized that no other sounds were occurring. The area had been bustling with people talking and milling around, but they all appeared to be frozen in place. Gasping in shock at the power this person must have, Lily truly wasn’t sure how to react.  Instead, she remained silent and just took in the scene, almost laughing at the expression the Royal family wore.  A goofy grin slowly made its way across her visage for a brief few minutes before it hid back behind the somber expression she had been wearing moments before.

Her intelligence was often overlooked due to her young age, but Lily was digesting everything that had been said, filing it away to mull over at a later time.  The Faerie was obviously alluding to the fact that she either knew about a resistance organization or was possibly apart of said group.  If that was the case, perhaps soon there would be a massive battle between those that wish to continue to enslave her people and those that wanted them to be free. History is much like an endless waltz. The three beats of war, peace and revolution continue on forever.  The human race fought a similar battle, but something told her, this one would be a turning point for all races, not just the humans and Faeries.

While she was busy pondering to herself, Lily was being tugged back to where her master was currently standing, still frozen.  Letting out a huffy sigh, the youngin glared hard at the rope still on the ground before nodding at the hooded figure. Yes, the woman made a good point, but that didn’t mean she had to like it.  She would be obedient for the moment, but when the time was right; all bets would certainly be off.  Before she was able to comment in any way, the Faerie walked off, and everyone came back to life, acting like nothing strange had happened.

What in the …?

Spotting the unfamiliar Fae yet again, Lily just about commented, but opted not to say anything. Not only that, the woman completely ignored her, which was an indicator to keep quiet and just listen.  Glad to hear that the Prince and Princess would be leaving, the captive shifted her attention over to the two newer slaves when the Prince asked the one named Selphina to watch over them.  He was even kind enough to invite Kiriel up to the Palace and Lily was curious and perhaps a little hopeful that she would take him up on that offer.  Obviously not happy with being left behind with yet another complete stranger, Celesse blurted out her displeasure at being left behind. About to say something to her distressed fellow human being, the kid was suddenly yanked upwards by one of her tiny wrists.

“Do not run off, you hear?”

Kiriel was the source of the warning and the reason her arm was suddenly hurting.  Standing on her tip-toes to alleviate some of the pressure on her shoulder, she was glad when the woman released her grasp.  Frowning a little, unable to help it, Lily rubbed her wrist with her free hand, trying to keep from glowering at her master.  This was the first time in quite a while that there had been some sort of physical aggression and Lily was upset to say the least.  Biting on her bottom lip to keep herself from smarting off, she instead kept her purple eyes open in case there was more punishment to come.  Surprisingly, Kiriel just kneeled down to her level and attempted to explain why she nearly ripped Lily’s shoulder out of its socket.

“I understand… I won’t run off, Master.”

For now…

"Selphina, I trust you can take care of these young ladies?"

Selphina nodded her head with a gentle smile in confirmation of the Prince's request, she would of course take the utmost care of the youths. Turning to Kiriel, Selphina inclined her head questioningly.

"Will you be joining their majesties, Madame Kiriel?" the elder fae queried politely, her eye falling on the three slaves. One appeared practically rabid, biting and pulling at her constraints, angrily determined to escape, or at least cause as much trouble as possible in trying. The other seemed afraid, but quietly so, and had the sparkle of intellect in her eye - this one must be new, Selphina thought. She still had her full wits about her, the flare of desperation had not yet sunk its claws into her common sense - she would be capable of reason. The girl Selphina had caught previously seemed like a rabbit caught in a den of foxes, scared and almost frozen to the spot in terror. She was younger than the other two, Selphina thought, so this was understandable. For a youth, however, she was remarkably controlled - there were no tears, no open shivering, merely a quiet fear.

And really, a slave would be only a fool not to have at least some fear in this environment.

No, Selphina thought that out of the three girls, both Lily and Celesse would be capable enough of discretion. The third, however, this wild child... she would likely be less cooperative. Of course, Selphina would try and reason with her, but she thought it unlikely the practically rabid girl would listen. Some were just beyond help...

Waiting for Kiriel's response, the fae held herself with an air of power and command that radiated through her seemingly subservient mannerisms - she was after all, nought but a tutor and librarian, with no true authority, and yet, she seemed to command more respect than the princess herself. It certainly was a quizzical circumstance, and the thought brought a faint smile to Selphina's lips.

What happened next was all too confusing. The rope seemed to have dropped and Hailey grinned. The little girl was going to escape! Hailey was excited to see the outcome, knowing that her chance would also come. Then something happened. Hailey wasn't exactly sure as to what it was but when she managed to look at the little slave girl, she was still with her master and nothing had happened. Her master was talking to her, but Hailey couldn't hear what was being said. Whatever happened scared her though. She didn't know what had being done, but her sense told her the girl should have escaped but something stopped her.

Hailey was once again surprised when the masters seemed to leave, leaving them in the care of another woman, and elderly looking fae. She frowned and glared before starting to renew her struggles. She wouldn't listen to any one. Not a single one of them. That was final. In the end, Hailey worn herself out with her struggling. She made her fingers sore and her body tired; it hadn't taken long, but now she was still, breathing heavily and trying to think of her back up plan while she rested. It was obvious that she wasn't escaping with these chains on. And it didn't look like they'd come off easily.

"I want to go home." Hailey finally demanded. "And you know what home I'm talking about. I'm not a slave and I'm not going to be one, ever. So you might as well just take me home." She growled, folding her hands over her chest and her face in a scowl, trying to look as mean and as intimiding as possible; though for a child of her size that was virtually impossible.

Kiriel eyed the ancient fae, lips twisted downwards somewhat. She didn’t really want to follow her cousins to go see the king- he scared the desert fae. Besides, she didn’t trust the ancient one, although she had no reason to distrust the woman. Perhaps it was the immense amount of power the other had? Who was to know.

Those dark, whiteless, orbs flickered to the side as she controlled herself. “No, no. I shall stay with...them.” Kiriel couldn’t make herself say slaves, it almost felt wrong. But it didn’t much matter to the desert fae. She had one and, if she could convince the Prince to give her another one, she’d have two. They could be good work, be mostly free – and..

Well.

A small smile toyed at the woman’s lips, caramel skin rippling as she arched her back to crack it. “Thank you for asking.” She murmured quietly, choosing not to say the ancients name. Names had power, and Kiriel didn’t wish to upset the being who was more powerful. “But I shall stay. IF you have something you’d like us to do, though…?” She allowed the words to trail off, so that it wouldn’t be seen as offensive if the librarian didn’t have a task for them.

"So what, I'm just getting left behind?! Wonderful."

With his hand holding tightly to his dear sister, Dellywynne turned to Celesse and smiled. "You'll be well taken care of, I give you my word." With a wink, they were gone. Quietly he lead his sibling to their drawn carriage. It was a flashy thing, shaped like a silver pumpkin, drawn by small dragon flies who snorted eagerly at their arrival. As the duo neared their ride home, Dellywynne dropped his sister's hand and opened the door before the footman even noticed their presence. With a deep bow, Dellywynne grinned at Lumi, "After you, love." His voice was dripping honey but it was not something he could help. Once she was in, seated properly, the Prince followed her in and sat with his legs crossed over the other.

"We're ready to go driver." But there was no need to say this, as they were already in the air. With a sigh, Dellywynne wondered what their beloved father  could want from them and soon his thoughts drifted off to the girl. What was her name...? Celesse? It sounded like silk to him, making his thoughts melt as her face came to view. Never had he been so infaturated with a woman, especially a human. Compared to Fairies, their lives were so short lived and only a fool would bother to... no, he wouldn't think of that. It was unimportant, for soon they were upon their home and soon he would have to deal with his father's demands.

A Fairy with a human heart... That's what was said of him. It took him a moment to realize his sister was speaking to him, and he hadn't heard a word she said. How rude of him. Shaking his head clear of his thoughts, Dellywynne made an inquiry. "What was that, Lumi?"

King Tiernan paced his study, crazed thoughts flitting through his mind like a hummingbird jumping from flower to flower. More and more slaves had been revolting...those treacherous beasts needed to learn their place, that was certain. It was not good for his image if no one can control the slugs that were supposed to be serving them. ...Yes. This was a problem. Maybe one Dellywynne could help with. Maybe it was time for for his son to learn of the prophecy...but no. He was not yet old enough. The chosen has not yet arrived...that is, assuming his psychics were not withholding information from him. He would have to make sure this was not happening...if so, a severe punishment would be implemented--one that would make sure this never happened again.

This thought brought a smile to his distorted face. Yes...none of this would ever happen again. He was King. He was the ruler. He was the most important man in both this world and the next. The angels appointed him in his dreams. His power was absolute. He was divine. God himself would bow down to him.

Relaxing slightly, Tiernan stalked over to his oversized chair behind the ornate wooden desk and lowered himself into it, basking in the richness surrounding him. He looked outside, noticing it was getting dark. It must be nearing four in the afternoon...the sun was disappearing behind the buildings already. Dellywnne was late.

That blasted boy...he was so flippant. Why wasn't he more like his father? Brutal and just. Because that is exactly what Tiernan was...brutal and just.

A flash out the window caught the King's eye--Two dragonflies, returning with what was presumably Dellywynne and--if God were so kind--Luminyx. While her brother was unreliable and wishy washy, Luminyx was the exact opposite--trustworthy and faithful. Tiernan could go to her with any problem in the kingdom, and she would always offer sound advice that oftentimes worked. Nevermind the floggings she received for being wrong.

Rising from the chair and striding to the corner of his study, Tiernan lit a small pipe and began puffing quietly to himself. Any second now...Yes. There. A knock at his door. He said from his corner, "Enter, please." The door eased open without a sound--the work of his maintenance team, no doubt. Bless their souls, they were always so hard at work.

Without looking at the door, Tiernan addressed Dellywynne and Luminyx: "Son, daughter. I have recently become aware of a crisis plaguing the city: It seems a certain number of slaves have been acting up, even coming close to attempting murder on their rightful owners. It seems this has to be stopped, do you not agree?" He didn't stop for their answer, but instead continued, "You see, I don't want to risk someone dying. If even one Fairy dies at the hand of their slave, all it will do is ruin the market and make the existing slaves believe they can kill their masters, too. We cannot have this. A riotous and disrespectful slave population is not something we need right now, not with the coming Festival of Angels. I expect you to take care of this, Dellywynne and Lumi. If you do not, you will be punished. That is all, you may leave."

Without even facing them to watch their departure, Tiernan stalked back to his chair and took a seat yet again. His blasted children had better put an end to this situation...he really didn't take much pleasure in beating his flesh and blood.

Lumi flashed Dellywynne a white smile in return for his courteous behavior and gracefully entered the carriage, seating herself beside one window so that she could study the bright and beautiful day… whenever she wasn’t looking at her Brother. She tucked a stray gold-streaked curl behind her ear and leaned forward so she could cup one elbow in her palm and rest the other fisted hand beneath her chin. She was still smiling when Dellywynne settled into the carriage, but could tell they wouldn’t have any intelligible conversation.

He had a distant look in his vivid eyes and seemed to be doing everything automatically, without thinking…

He was too busy thinking about that slave girl. She knew it wasn’t Kiriel; he’d never acted this way during the warrior Fae’s previous visits, and Kiriel hadn’t seemed to change, at all. What she couldn’t fathom was what he saw in the Human. She was plain, dull, and short-lived. She didn’t even have the spirit that the other girl had, although Luminyx did not consider this to be a bad thing. The last thing she needed was a slave who would fight her the whole way. She’d have to teach her a lesson and find herself yet another slave.

“Do you have any inkling of what our Father may want at this time? I was certain he knew where we were…” She asked of her Brother, determined to hit two birds with one stone by avoiding her unpleasant thoughts and breaking her Brother out of his day dreams as well.

It was like talking to a statue.

Luminyx stared at her Brother with a frozen smile until he realized she’d spoken, then her smile widened. “I said, it’s such a wonderful day outside, I may go for a ride after all.” She paused to study him for a moment, then her smile dimmed. “You seem rather distracted today, dear Delly. Will you tell me what’s wrong?” Her voice was filled with genuine concern, despite the fact that she knew what he was most likely thinking about and that it didn’t require any sympathy from her.

Before he could answer, they had arrived at the palace gates and Lumi alighted from the carriage with a girlish energy, her thin bell-shaped skirt swirling around her ankles. She turned to look at her Brother, who was mostly likely exiting the carriage after her, smoothing her skirts as if she hadn’t just hopped from the carriage. “Whatever it is, I hope you will tell me later. I don’t like to see you so absent-minded,” She said quietly, her brows drawn together. Then she put on a polite smile for the footman, nodded regally, and entered the palace with her Brother.

Luminyx entered the study slowly and gracefully; it wouldn’t do to displease her Father. She hid the warmth she felt at the sight of him behind a serene expression and nodded her head. Many may consider him unjust and rather strict, but Luminyx herself believed in being strict when it was required… she wouldn’t have turned out as good as she had if he’d been lax and lenient on her every time she did something wrong. When her advice was wrong, she learned to be right the next time and grew wiser through the experience. It never occurred to her to despise her Father for being so quick to punish his children.

“Father,” She greeted him, falling silent when he began to speak. He turned out to be very long-winded this time, but what he had to say was very important. Luminyx drew her brows together, looking both worried and determined at the same time, her expression stiffening almost unnoticeably. The moment he mentioned slaves acting up, an image of Dellywynne’s new slave, H-something, flashed through her mind. She wondered what the King would think about Dellywynne purchasing such a spirited slave. He’d probably have the slave punished severely just for daring to open her mouth without permission.

Luminyx cut a sideways glance at her Brother, wondering what he thought of all this.

“Yes, Father,” Luminyx replied, giving another nod to the King before she turned gracefully on her heel and swept out of the study. She stopped outside the door to wait on Dellywynne, and once he’d caught up with her, began to walk away from the study.

“What do you think, Brother?” She asked seriously. She wanted his opinion before she suggested anything. It was no doubt that what her Father said was true; the only question now was where to begin with quelling this slave problem.

For a brief moment, hope crossed the young child’s face as the hooded Fae asked her Master if she would be joining the royalty on their trip to the castle or wherever royal people went.  The expression quickly died away when Kiriel declined.  For once she thought she would get a reprieve, and though she wouldn’t run off again, she would be able to talk more freely to Celesse and Hailey.  Chewing a little on her bottom lip, Lily was proud at her ability to hide truly how she was feeling, especially since Selphina appeared to be studying her along with the other two girls.  Talk about feeling like an ant being scrutinized by a giant human with a magnifying glass.  It was just a little unnerving to say the least.  Still, the feeling left just as quickly as it came, and she wondered what was going to happen next.

“Mrr…”

Glancing over to Hailey as she demanded to go back home to her human home, the seven year old couldn’t help but frown heavily.  At least the girl had a home to go back to, or at least it sounded like she did. Unfortunately, for Lily, she was an orphan and even if she did escape, there wasn’t really anywhere for her to go. Perhaps that was why she hadn’t made more attempts to run off.  That didn’t mean she wouldn’t try it again, because being a slave girl, even though she had more privileges than most slaves, wasn’t appealing to her.  The key was to melt into the background, and not make it known that there is unhappiness. Hailey was doing it the wrong way and that probably was going to cost her in the end.  Scooting over to Hailey, Yuy wrinkled her nose a little before handing her one of her bunny hairclips.

“It sucks, but if you wanna win, you gotta be a secret agent.”

Hoping the girl realized what Lily was talking about, the kid moved back over towards her Master with a slight sigh.   As Kiriel asked the older Fae if there was anything they could do, the purple eyed human snorted softly.  The hell she was going to do labor for someone else. Crossing her arms and glaring up at the two Fae’s, she didn’t even notice when the prince and princess left and frankly didn’t care.  The only thing she vaguely saw was the backside of the silver pumpkin carriage as it disappeared from sight.

“Like hell I’m going to be helping some other Faerie with labor. Nuh uh, isn’t going to happen.

A death glare followed Dellywynne as he left the auction house, but he didn't seem to notice...which in turn pissed Celesse off even more. Having your life and freedom taken away can do that, you know. She sighed, thinking about how sucky being a slave was going to be. Cleaning up after disgusting Fairies, running their errands, raising their children...Wow.  Being a slave was really going to suck, wasn't it? Celesse took in a deep breath, easing her racing blood marginally while making her slightly lightheaded. Okay. It would be okay. Luminyx seemed decent enough...if a little bitchy and a lot bi-polary. Celesse could deal with it, though. Hopefully.

Abruptly, her eyes flashed to the half-naked Fairy with the crap ton of tattoos. Something to do? What the hell would the freaky librarian have for them to do? Celesse had never worked in any type of establishment remotely similar to a library. Another sigh forced its way past her lips as her figure slumped in demeanor. Well, if the librarian DID have anything for them to do, maybe Celesse would at least be able to see the Palace. She heard it was a spectacular sight, for all intents and purposes. Never mind the fact she would be working there for the rest of her life, probably never seeing the light of day ever again. It was cool, though. And maybe the library wouldn't be a horrifying place to work...if her new owner allowed it, that is.

***

A smile came to Tiernan's lips as he heard his obedient daughter leave the room with his apathetic son. Maybe he needed a woman? Someone to give his life vibrancy and meaning? Someone to stand by him, through all life's hardships? ...HA. Yes, that's what women do. "Stand by your side" is code for "watch your every move and criticize your every decision" and "giving life vibrancy" means redecorating your father's study. A woman was the last thing Dellywynne needed.

At least he had darling Luminyx to keep him company...she was always by his side, in the good way. Always supportive and warm...A sincerely kind person, she was. It seemed Dellywynne could always go to her for anything he ever needed, an any time. She was an ideal sister, that was the truth.

How she came from that whore of a woman, Tiernan didn't know. Luminyx's mother was a retched creature--opinionated and independent. She never needed anyone, especially Tiernan. He despised her for that...and for making him feel like he truly needed her, when he absolutely didn't. He didn't need anyone, not a single person. And yet...the thought of her rich gold hair tickling his skin and her still blue eyes gazing at him still made his skin tingle and his muscles twitch. That wicked witch...she had without a doubt cast an irrevocable spell upon his mind. That was why, of course, he banished her from his castle. She would have been a bad influence on the children. His guidance was much more effective than that of a boastful seer.

With a sigh, he returned to his massive desk, his lean frame leaning over it in exasperation. Maybe HE needed a woman...not a relationship, mind you, just someone who could take the edge off his stress.
